‘Self-Disclosure’, a 10-minute video work by Florida-based artist Dana Blickensderfer recreating herself as a contemporary ‘tableau-vivant’. A powerful statement to our selfie-obsessed times, Blickensderfer becomes the subject-object and creator-muse in her performance.
She embodies the theatricality of the ‘living-picture’ updating the 19th-century romantic concept revealing both herself and her art. A yearly repeated ritual, the artist films herself on the month of her birthday, inviting the viewer into a close-up gaze of her imaginative creative world.
