Dana Blickensderfer debuts a multisensory art exhibition during Miami Art Week 2018. The exhibition, titled “A Stranger In A Strangeland,” exhibits the artist’s most recent work discussing femininity and culture.
Blickensderfer’s art installation during Art Basel 2018 brings her concerns for womanhood, intersectional feminism, and women in business to light.
In her multi-sensory art installation, she symbolizes her intimate connection to her femininity through the use of form and lighting. Her paintings and sculptures reference her understanding of feminism while unfolding her cultural perspective from her Egyptian ancestry. She draws parallels between her personal life, lineage, entrepreneurship, and pop culture in her connection to the feminine.
It is through a wide range of surface work, alternating between rough and smooth materials, transparent and delicate, that she is able to enhance her ideas about womanhood.
